KOP at Home: How we’re responding throughout Covid-19.

Access to Education, Opportunity, Basic Needs – Always.

Every one of our kids receives quality support so they can achieve personal excellence.

Our mission to prepare kids for college or careers does not stop during a pandemic – in fact, we’ve doubled our efforts to create stable foundations of basic, social and emotional needs throughout the pandemic.

From the first local impacts of Covid-19 in March 2020, Kids on Point implemented additional initiatives specifically designed for our kids and their families.

Support First, Connect Forever

  • Every one of our kids has independent check-ins with our KOP team, as well as opportunities for virtual social calls with peers.
  • We provide Chromebooks to every kid and help with internet connectivity costs.
  • We conduct recurring needs assessments on family health and finances and connect parents to resources for direct relief and mutual aid.

Our academic mentoring continues online for assistance with assigned schoolwork, while we develop digital educational resources and offline activities for independent learning.

We provided a free, 8-week-long opt-in summer school session for kids to maintain their academic progress.

Camp In A Box

Stocked backpacks at the start of the session included games and books, plus ideas and supplies for art and science projects (and group contests).

Subsequent bi-weekly kits included tools for creative play, experimentation, exercise and hygiene for kids to share with their families.
