Lauren Herterich Selected as South Carolina’s Representative in National Afterschool Ambassador Program

Lauren Herterich has been chosen to join the prestigious Afterschool Ambassador Program through the Afterschool Alliance—a national initiative dedicated to strengthening and expanding access to afterschool programs for children and families. In this highly selective role, Lauren will serve as South Carolina’s representative on the national stage, advocating for policies and funding that support afterschool and summer learning programs across the country.

As an Afterschool Ambassador, Lauren will work within her community and throughout South Carolina to raise awareness about the critical need for afterschool programs. She will play a vital role in mobilizing support from policymakers, educators, business leaders, and community stakeholders to ensure that more students have access to high-quality enrichment opportunities beyond the school day.

The Afterschool Ambassador Program is committed to empowering leaders who drive lasting change. Ambassadors engage decision-makers, increase public awareness, and foster cross-sector collaboration—including in education, business, government, philanthropy, and faith-based organizations.

Through this national leadership role, Lauren will help shape strategies that impact afterschool programs nationwide, ensuring that students and families continue to benefit from these essential services. Her advocacy will help secure sustainable funding and policy support, leaving a lasting legacy for South Carolina and beyond.
